小型混凝土预制件广泛用于城市河道护坡、坝头、高速公路边坡及闸门、桥头堆坡、边沟等部位，虽然其外型尺寸不大，但随着高速公路建设的飞速发展，其数量却越来越大。目前所使用的小型预制件虽然强度合格，但外观不美，影响沿线景观。如何提高小型混凝土预制构件的内在和外观质量是每一个施工单位所面临的问题。
